Draft: Japan -Owen

Sunday 3-30-08. First day in Japan.
I just woke up. Yesterday I arrived in Narita, Japan. I took a train to tokyo station. Then I took a train to ginza which wasn't very long. Then I went to my hotel. It is an old fashion hotel. Then I went to an indian restaurant. Then I walked back to the hotel. Then we laid out the beds. There is a closet where they are stored. First, you put the bottom cusion. Then, you put on another sheet. Then you put on the rest of the bed.

4-2-08. Tokyo.
Tokyo was fun. I ate Inari sushi almost every night. The hotel was old-fashioned and had tatami. They had stones at the front which is where you take off your shoes. The you put some slippers on. Then you go up the elevator to your room. Then you take off your slippers in the room because the slippers wear out the tatami. When you go to the bathroom, you have to wear special slippers. I went to lots of department stores to get dinner. I also went to a toy store and I got some toys: Anpanman, Mario, and Luigi. Oh, I also go some anpan. I will show you anpanman because you probably don't know him.

Tsumago and Magome.
Tsumago was fun. I also walked to Magome. The hike was about 6km long and 2 hours long. I went up and downhill. Also, my parents taught me som kanji. I will show you some: =small, =big, =mouth, =go in, =go out, =entrance, =exit, =person, =tree. Ok, now I will talk about the train ride. First of all, I saw Mt. Fuji. Last but not least (maybe least, but I wouldn't say that), I played video games half the time.

Kyoto (or -).
Japan was fun. I feel sad that I left. Now let's talk about Kyoto (there are two ways to write it, - or -). I like the looong walks. I got to talk with Grant. I also met some nice friends of my mom. I like Mrs. Koyama (or - - - ) the best. Then Rieko (who I already knew). The Dr. Uno (we call him "Dr. One"). The Yuko. Mrs. Ko brought us to an entertainment thing (I forget what it's called) and the Pokeman Center. Dr. Uno lead us to a cool restaurant and rotenbudo (outside bath).

Draft: Brave Pig = Bully Away -Leah

Once there was a pig, he was as
pink as a sunset. He was a very lonely
pig. He had only one friend. The friend
was very sick. The pig cried everyday
like rain falling.

In school everybody
teased him because he was small and
thin. The other pigs were big and fat
like big round balls.
All the pigs wanted to be big and fat.

One day a new
pig joined the class. She was a big
bully. She thought she was the best.
She always called out and punched pigs.

One day the small and thin
pig was out playing by himself as
usual and when the bully
wasn't looking he bit her. She
was running around with a red tail,
she looked like she was on fire.

And from then on the teased pig
was their hero. All the teasing
stopped. The next day the bully
sat on a stinging nettle while all
the pigs were laughing. The "hero" pig
said to the bully, Simon says, "Go west."
She thought that she was so smart that
she went west.* That was the end of
the big bully. From that day on
the little teased pig was their hero.

*Or maybe this is how it ended . . .
The bully went home (which was
west) she sat in her room thinking
about how much she deserved
being hurt. The next day she came
to school. She acted like a new pig person
and from that day on there were no
bullies that bothered the pigs.

Draft: Family Recipes-Conor

When I was two years old, my dad let me watch him cook. I learned how to cook by watching him. I learned to crack eggs, beat ingredients, and measure by the time I was four. These are some of the things we made together. . .

When I was five years old, I was fooling around with my dad's coffee. I added salt and pepper and handed it to him thinking that he would not like it he loved it! I kept making it again and again and I still make it to this day.

How to make it:

First Make a regular cup of coffee but with with 3 scoops of coffee. Then add a few shakes of salt and pepper. Serve hot and enjoy.

Once I was on the east coast and it was my birthday and I was having my Aunt Helen's New York cheesecake. It is the best. What is wonderful about my Great Aunt Helen and her cheesecake? My Aunt Helen was born and raised in Kansas. She was a fabulous cook. But sadly my Aunt Helen died at 103 years old. I was two. But her recipes stayed. The one that stands out the most is her New York cheesecake. Trust me, this is the best cheesecake you will ever have.

Once I was seeing what would happen if I soaked oatmeal in milk for twenty minutes. It got so mushy I decided to make a cake out of it. I added three eggs, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and baked it. It turned out wonderful. That's my oatmeal cake.

Barry Bonds-Jonah

Here’s the pitch. Full count. Here in the ninth with the best baseball player. Barry Bonds, designated hitter, could win them the game, big time. Here’s the pitch on the side . . . but no, crack! A broken bat and out to left-center. But no, he’s too strong for that. Out of the park with a grand slam! That’s nine points for the Giants. Let’s see what the camera outside of Giants’ Stadium is capturing.

Zooming out. . . Oh, but what’s this? Looks like someone in a canoe has got the ball from that amazing grand slam by Barry Bonds. He is paddling to shore and puts his canoe on top of his car. And way back at the stadium the A’s congratulate the Giants for the magnificent game they just experienced.

I am Barry Bonds and this is my house. I just came back from the game and I feel guilty about steroids like usual after every game I win. It feels good to win, but not when you’ve cheated. It feels terrible. Anyway, I won.

Breaking news: the jury decides that Barry Bonds, reported for use of steroids, is going to jail for this use. Terrifying, but only for 9 months. Lots of proof is proven by the prosecutor and it was a close case until the prosecutor showed the judge his proof.

I am Jonah Koppelman. I watch baseball, and I think Barry Bond is a good baseball player even though he took steroids. He still had the biggest record of baseball history. He had 755 home runs. He is strong as a dinosaur (probably because he took steroids). He has lots of confidence and never gives up. He’s a good example for trying your hardest, doing something you like, and practice makes perfect.

Draft:

I like how Barry Bond's is a good baseball player even though he took steroids. He still had the biggest record of baseball history. He had 762 home runs.

The qualities in him are he is strong as a dinosaur even though he took steroids. He has lots of confidence and never gives up tries your hardest do something you like not what you don't like practice makes perfect if you like it do it and yet the best baseball player in baseball history.

I liked when he hit the ball out of the park like a golf ball flying up and up. A canoe was waiting to catch a ball suddenly a roar of applause starts and suddenly a ball coming right at him and he pops out his glove from the canoe ready to catch it and he caught it.
