We got Malcolm when my older sister was five. He was very cute.
He was mischievous and stubborn, too. Once he was on my bed lying on my pillow. I knew he wouldn't move if I said anything, so I decided to just go to sleep on top of Malcolm. And then he was still there in the morning and he didn't leave until I went to school.
He was as black as a night with no moon. But his eyes were as green as green beans. His heart was as big as all the powerful writing in the world and beat steadily like a drum.
Until one day, he began to wheeze. We took him to the vet. They didn't know what he had and we told him that he hadn't been eating or drinking. Then, they thought it was Kidney Disease. After a whole bunch of tests they said he had a tumor in his mouth. But the one thing they said, the one thing that will always be a black dot in my blank life was that they said he was going to die.
A few days later, we put him to sleep. I never saw him again, but he shines like a star in my life. His ashes were sent to a beautiful park to help plants grow. I want to visit him in the park some day.
