Draft: Water is Precious by Adrian Shore

"No! No! Brother don't die!" A little boy kneeled over his brother. The war in Iraq was going on for five years straight. The little boy yelled with fright as a horseman galloped toward him. The horseman stopped in front of his brother and looked down and cut off his brother's head. His brother's head rolled off his neck like a bumpy bowling ball.

"No!" The little boy kept on running even though he wanted to run back and punch the horseman in the nose and break it. When the little boy finally stopped he looked for a drink, but he couldn't find one. Then he figured it out. The war in Iraq was caused by a drought. And when he looked at the ground it was cracked and parched as if a big giant had sucked up all the water in it.

Suddenly, a spirit floated toward the little boy. Th spirit touched his shoulder and said, "I'm giving you the power to save Iraq." "How?" The little boy asked. But the spirit was already disappearing.

He realized that the spirit was his brother. He wept. The first tears to hit the ground made a bigger ocean than you can imagine. And then all the fighting stopped. The little boy ran home and hugged his bedraggled mother. "I was worried sick about you", said his mother. "Where's your big brother?" said the Mother. "Uaa mom, he's dead."

She looked at me with sad eyes like she was about to cry. And then she burst out crying. After about two hours of crying she stopped and looked at the door. She screamed. The little boy looked at the door and saw his brother. He ran to his brother's open arms and hugged him hard. He still had his bloody shirt on and a big gash on his leg that caused him to limp.

But what the little boy saw that stood out the most was a big stitch on his brother's neck. "Come on," said mother, "let's get you cleaned up".
